Rivalry

I hope I'm not alone in this, but my kids sometimes fight about the strangest things.  When they fight about something ridiculous (This particular fight was about who got to sit on what couch. Yep, seriously), I offer up a coin toss as a solution. Smart, right? As an alternative to telling them to stop being stupid, I offer up an unbiased, reasonable way to solve the problem. Instead of marveling at my brilliance and telling me how awesome I am for understanding that this actually matters to them, they fight over who gets to be heads and who gets to be tails. Fo reals. How the heck am I supposed to resolve that? Thoughts?
